Evansville Morning Rotary Provides Meals for At-Risk Youth

Every second Monday of the month members of the Evansville Morning club have gathered at the United Methodist Youth Home to serve food and provide enrichment programming for the youth housed there.  The club's first time there they served pizza, taught the young men how to mix concrete and helped build a movable volleyball goal.  Rotarians purchased and solicited donations for the materials and later held a contest to see if the boys or girls could put together the soccer goals the fastest.  Rotarians have done everything from teach how to tie a tie, to have personal finance speakers, and others who taught how to change a tire and jump start a car.  Some Rotarians even asked the mayor to speak to the kids when they went out for pizza!

Other Rotary clubs have gotten involved, including the Evansville Noon Club's President leading a conversation with the young ladies about personal finances, and the local Rotaract President visited to talk with the boys about the same!

To put the final feather in the cap of the project, the Evansville Morning club held a year-end banquet that they combined with the club's annual Changeover Ceremony, where the kids joined Rotarians for dinner and learned about Rotary.
